Historical Review

Our strong Association is about 100 years old . It developed always a very important role in the society of Presidencia Roque Sáenz Peña.

It was founded on April 17, 1916, although it had been known since 1913 with the arrival of the first two Czech families, Novotny and Sasvata.

On June 17, 1917, were announced to fellow Czechs and Slovaks to form the first Association that was called "Českolosvenseke Národni Sdružení (Czechoslovak National Association" and was established as follows the first commission directive:

Jan Osyčka President, Jindrich Novotny Secretary y Jan Rezek Treasurer.

Over the years its successors had the same dream of having its own headquarters with a lot of physical space. That miracle occurred in November 1932 thank to Mr Emilio Mamaury, who donated 2 acres of his farm. This land is still owned by the Czechoslovak Union and here is establishing its head office, located at the address 948 Islas Malvinas Avenue.

The official formation of this Association has resulted in numerous social, cultural and sports activities that have been always developed with enthusiasm and responsibility. We can remember the operation of an Argentinean- Czechoslovak school called “John Amos Komenski”, which the children of Czech families went to Argentinean School in the morning and in afternoon to the Czech. Others children concurred on Sunday also. There was a student hostel for the settlers’ children who were not able to study in the school for the long distance to theirs farm home. The student hostel had bedrooms and separate bathrooms for girls and boys, it had a substantial dining room, kitchen and classroom. It was manage by Mrs. Kratopochvil. The first student hostel´s children were: Rosa Barina, Lydia and Mary Michlovsky Ocenacek and Wenceslao.

It association had a library with considerable amount of books in Slovak and Czech languages, a tennis court and a bocce court.
